At two years old, his father’s arrest for arson left him and his siblings, the oldest just seven, without their mother’s explanation. They ended up in jail with their father until a kind local policeman, Ali Macawili, took them in when their father fell ill.

Living with the Macawili family until eight, he left after mistreatment by Macawili’s mother, seeking his real parents. Despite his youth, he took on various odd jobs for survival, including selling balut and working odd jobs.

At 16, a chance encounter led him back to his father, sparking mixed emotions about his absent mother. Unable to reconcile with his stepmother, he moved to Manila for work, finding solace in singing while working on a poultry farm.

At 24, he reunited with his family, feeling a mix of anger and forgiveness towards his mother. After recovering from illness, he faced a hurtful comment from his sister, spurring him to join a talent show.

First, he tried ABC 5’s Talentadong Pinoy but didn’t succeed. He didn’t give up and tried ABS-CBN’s Pilipinas Got Talent’s second season, where he won the grand prize with 19.56% of the votes, winning 2 million Philippine pesos. His entire family was there to support him in the grand finale at the Araneta Coliseum, where he performed „The Prayer,” made famous by Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli, receiving a standing ovation from the audience and all three judges. When asked about his prayer that night, he said he prayed for his performance to be successful so his family could be proud of him, as it was the first time in his life he saw all his family members together and complete.

A few weeks after his win, someone uploaded a video on YouTube showing how the residents of Bislig welcomed him with love, admiration, and pride during a festive ceremony in his hometown, attended by high-ranking officials of the province and the city. It was an honor and uplifting experience.
